On several different occasions this week I've found myself in that"drawing the line in the sand" moments. Unfortunately my ASL I class and Hayden (and a few others) have been witnesses to my foot stompin' tantrums. But in all honesty I believe I've been fair.
It is very much my personality to deal with issues and deal and deal until my buttons have been POPPED! Like the shirts that are in my closet (that Mark shrinks) that are too tight and the buttons close with a little resistance to only find out that they mysteriously unbuttoned later in the day unknown to you until you get undressed. Gasp!
So after several sessions of my subjects COMPLAINING and complaining and COMPLAINING- I told them to get a grip on life in one way or another. I took the time at various moments to assess the situations, gather my thoughts, tried to troubleshoot, give suggestions for improvement, etc. However I was met with attitudes, with more complaining, with excuses, and worst of all-a general lack of taking responsibility- which was definitely key in the problems we all were facing. Even myself! Did I mention to you it is my personality to DEAL. Some may consider this to be reactive instead of proactive-but I do give warnings and hints at my ability to pop at any given time. Isn't that human? I consider myself to be a fair person, a fair person that may be a bit too lacks on being forthcoming. I do NOT like controversy, I do NOT like conflict-I believe getting along and peace are so key to my existence that without calm I am off kilter(stressed out, unable to let go of it until I am able to do some stompin!). I may not be good at apologizing but I do it. I ask for forgiveness and in my opinion expect that all involved to have learned from these outbursts and best yet use it for future reference at the next button popping event!
Can't we all just get along?

Our New Spot
Mark and I went to Ikea this past weekend and loaded up on some great things for the house. My personal favorite is the bookcase/desk that we got. The kids love it and have enjoyed working at their new spot. Hayden is doing great and is working at the 1st grade level on most subjects already and Logan has expressed some interest in beginning to read. And Addie, she enjoys her time coloring and playing with play-doh as her favorites. It has been a great journey so far and am excited to continue on this adventure with them. Up next is a gardening/sunflower/bee unit next month! Stay tuned.

One Cup

I borrowed this idea from Whittaker Woman, who borrowed it from a friend of hers. I could not help but bump this idea onto my blog.
I will be writing more on this subject, but recently we decided to sponser a child through Compassion International, she is from Uganda. Her name is Macculate. I will share that story shortly. But hopefully this story will jive you to give this a try tomorrow. *Considering our family is just exiting from the stomach bug-rice actually may speed the process to recovery. (Ok just joking- ya'll know I like to joke!!)
"On Wednesday March 11, 2009 Compassion International will be spreading the word through radio, TV, and blogs about the Global Food Crisis that is happening right now all over the world. This will be your chance to make a difference and join the fight against the global food crisis.
A friend of mine, Brock Gill, has a great challenge for all of us called The Rice Challenge. Here’s a little bit from his challenge…on wednesday, i want you to take a cup of rice and live on that for a day. call it a fast if you want. i will put it this way, if you can live on a cup of rice for the day then you will have a glimpse of what it is like to walk in their shoes. you will gain some serious perspective. you will realize how blessed you actually are. The money that you would have spent on food for the day can now be donated to feed people around the world. click here to donate. take the challenge and put your money where your mouth is. this is the rice challenge. So… Please join Brock, myself and countless others in the fight against the Global Food Crisis…Here’s a few stats just in case you need a little conviencing. One person in seven goes to bed hungry every day.One-third of the world’s population is undernourished. There are 25,000 starvation-related deaths each day. Each night more than 300 million children go to bed hungry.Every day, over 12,000 children (one every 7 seconds) die from hunger-related causes.Approximately 146 million or 27 percent of children under age 5 in developing countries are underweight.Nearly 17 percent of babies in developing countries are born with a low birth weight compared with only7 percent of babies in industrialized countries.More than 4.4 million children die from malnutrition each year. Worldwide, 161 million preschool children suffer chronic malnutrition.Sources: www.one.org, www.bread.org, www.unicef.org, www.who.int, www.unep.org"
